Dekadenz -
Ganz verboten:
Echter Naturschutz müsste an ganz anderen Punkten ansetzen. So etwa an der Import-
Decadence -
For us, it has become quite normal to buy exotic animals and plants of all kinds in pet shops, on the internet or even in DIY shops. Many of these species were caught wild and only a fraction come from captive breeding. This is all quite legal and no one is upset about the fact that millions of animals and plants are transported around the globe by plane every year. Moreover, many of these species can be bought without any certificate of competence, and nobody seems to be interested in how long these organisms actually survive in captivity. Or what the buyers actually intend to do with them. Real species and animal protection made in Germany!
Completely forbidden:
Native animals and plants, on the other hand, are often protected under the Federal Species Protection Act. Often they may neither be kept nor traded. Anyone who goes collecting anything in our nature is usually committing at least one administrative offence. Or in other words: he is a criminal! Especially if he "poaches" in the alleged Wadden Sea National Park.
Schizophrenia:
Isn't this schizophrenic? For some, the whole planet may be plundered, for others, practically everything is forbidden! So those who have a genuine interest in native animals and plants are criminals, while the broad mass of others are allowed to help themselves to the colourful shopping mall of tropical nature completely legally. Or also: The whole creation as cheap junk goods!
The main error:
True nature conservation would have to start at completely different points. For example, the containment of imports and consumption. Or genuine sustainable protection of habitats. Such as the consistent non-
